The booster dose provides the best protection from deaths and serious symptoms due to COVID-19 in facing the Omicron wave.
Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said unvaccinated individuals are the most at risk to be infected with COVID-19 with serious effects and dying from the infection.
“Individuals who have received the booster dose are the most protected as seen from the lower number of cases with serious effects.
“The cases of deaths are also lower among booster dose recipients compared to unvaccinated and vaccinated but unboosted individuals.
“Thus, the Ministry of Health urges all eligible adults who have yet to receive their booster dose to obtain it immediately from the nearest vaccination centre (PPV) via walk-in,” he said in a recent media statement.
The National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme — Booster (PICK-B) has begun officially since 1 October 2021. As of 22 February 2022, 14,176,241 doses have been administered to eligible adults (60.3% out of the adult population in Malaysia).
“Members of the public can check for PPVs at https://vaksincovid.protecthealth.com.my/find. Those who have registered, please be present for the appointment slot,” he added.
