The Mirror Lake (Tasik Cermin) will be a unique tourism attraction of Ipoh when it is officially open to visitors.
With a size of 65 acres, the Mirror Lake Eco Park which is located at Gunung Rapat is also set to be the first quarry eco park in Malaysia.
Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi said the location offers a unique tourism experience with the beauty of nature.
According to her, the Mirror Lake is a former quarry site which no longer operates. It has two lakes and two tunnels.
“The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has appointed Syarikat Tasik Cermin Tourism Sdn Bhd to develop the site.
“The development of Mirror Lake Eco Park runs on the concept of low carbon using environment-friendly materials. This is because its location is among the 19 geosites within the Kinta Valley Geopark.
She said so during the media conference after the pre-launch ceremony of Mirror Lake Eco Park at Mirror Lake this morning.
Present was Mayor, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin.
Nolee stated that the cooperation with public and private sectors in developing geosites like this can aid the state government to preserve and promote the Kinta Valley Geopark as one of the main national geoparks in Malaysia.
She added that various eco-based tourism developments have been planned and divided into several phases.
“The development of Mirror Lake will open more job opportunities for local residents and at the same time, the developer is also training the Orang Asli as a manpower resource.
“The developer also collaborated with a few entrepreneur agencies to open commerce opportunities for Bumiputera entrepreneurs,” she said.
