An integrated operation on the compliance with the smoking ban especially at dining spots was carried out by the enforcers of the Ministry of Health (MOH) around Ipoh last night.
A total of 215 premises at main hotspots were visited by 54 enforcement officers with the aid of four police officers.
The State Health Department in a statement informed that the operation was carried out to enforce Regulation 11 of the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2004 (PPKHT).
According to the statement, a total of 71 notices were issued under Regulation 11(1) with a total compound of RM17,750.
“Meanwhile, there are four compounds issued under Regulation 12 of PPKHT with a total compound of RM1,000.
“Besides that, there are three compounds issued under Regulation 14 of PPKHT with a total compound of RM1,500.
“Action was also taken against offences under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) involving the breaching of standard operating procedure (SOP) of Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan.
For this offence, 27 compounds were issued with a total compound of RM27,000.”
The statement mentioned that the enforcement officers also implemented a health education approach via advice and distribution of cards on the types of offence and their compound amount.
“The enforcement of compliance with the smoking ban under PPKHT 2004 will be carried out continuously, especially at dining spots.
“Members of the public are reminded to continue to abide by the rules while any related complaints can be channelled via WhatsApp at 010-860 8949.
