“The ikan pari asam pedas (stingray in spicy tamarind sauce) in MH Hotel is still the best for breaking fast! We can find true kampung-style delicacies here!” said one of the visitors during the breaking of fast at MH Hotel Ipoh yesterday.

The Malay dish which originates from the southern part of the country is a highlight among the over 70 items of the Ramadan buffet at the hotel.

Sous Chef, Mohd Khamizan who has more than 16 years of culinary experience, said the spicy and sour tastes combined with the sweetness of fresh stingrays and crunchy okras is loved by visitors.

“Like the previous years, MH Hotel retains the concept of kampung-style delicacies. We have not been able to return to our kampung for over two years due to the pandemic, thus MH Hotel decided to feature Malay heritage dishes.

“Another main dish is sup tulang tujuh keturunan (beef ribs soup). Also featured are kambing bakar (roast lamb), cucur udang (prawn fritters), ulam (fresh herb salad) and various kuih (traditional cakes).

“Five main menus will be rotated daily which include masak lemak lala cili api, masak lemak nangka tumis darat and ayam goreng berempah. Meanwhile, the noodle station serves laksa, mee rebus, mee bandung and others,” he said.
