An elderly died while climbing to the peak of the Titiwangsa Range near Kem Kuali. It was believed that the death was caused by fatigue while performing the climbing expedition.
A police report of the incident was lodged from other climbers who had descended to the foothill at the Tanjung Rambutan Police Station. The climber was pronounced dead at around 5pm.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the 66-year-old victim participated in the climbing activity with 10 climbers including three women.
According to him, the area of the incident took eight hours to climb to the foot of Mount Korbu near the Ulu Kinta Water Treatment Plant.
“The group had an entry permit. However one of the members suffered extreme fatigue and passed away.
“As there was no communication coverage in the area, the group can only report the incident after reaching the foothill of the mountain,” he said in a statement.
Following that, the police and the Fire and Rescue Department carried out an operation to unload the victim’s body from the scene.
