Team HIBANA Wins Explorace 2022 by MBI
In conjunction with the celebration of the 34th Ipoh City Day, an explorace programme was organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
Team HIBANA emerged champion of the Explorace 2022 after successfully completing the tasks set at 5 checkpoints in just 58 minutes.
The team of 4 members, led by 37-year-old Mohd Razlin Roslan who works at the MBI Department of Building and Works, said that their win against the other 45 participants was due to mutual understanding among members and quickness in formulating strategies.
“We practised a cooperative attitude by delegating the tasks given. Compatibility between members is important to ensure good and smooth cooperation.
“Before this, we had participated in several explorace competitions organised by the MBI since 2016. We used our experience to complete each task as best we could.
“Thank you to the MBI and especially the Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud for organising this challenging explorace. This programme successfully highlights the tourism products in Ipoh such as the Panglima Lane, Japanese Garden, Dato’ Sagor Heritage Trail and Kinta Riverfront,” he said. The winning team received a cash prize of RM1,500.
Participants were given 4 hours, starting from 8am to 12pm where they would fail to score if they were unable to complete the tasks in that period.
The participants were flagged off by Rumaizi from the front of the Indera Mulia Stadium at 8am yesterday.
Team UKS of the MBI’s Strategic Communications Unit came in as first runner-up. Muhammad Faridzul Azmir Hamid, 32, team leader, said that understanding and cooperation between members formed the team’s main foundation.
“Before the day of competition, we discussed what strategies we should take to tackle the given tasks. In addition, we are always positive and have faith in one another.
“This explorace programme should be continued every year because aside from being a healthy leisure activity, it can also help the state government to promote tourism products through social media posts uploaded by the participants,” he said, adding that his team which completed all tasks in 1 hour and 20 minutes received a cash prize of RM800.
Third placing was won by Team Yayang which received RM500. Winner of fourth placing took home RM250, fifth placing at RM200, sixth to tenth placing at RM150 each and eleventh to twentieth placing at RM100 each.
City Secretary, Ahmad Munir Ishak presented the prizes to the winners. Before that, lucky draw prizes were presented by the President of the Ipoh City Hall Sports Club, Radin Afifi Ahmad Aruani.
