SOCSO Perak Paid Out RM25.9 Million From January to June

The Perak Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) has spent RM25.9 million for the payment of various benefits for the period of January to June this year.

Perak Branch Chief for SOCSO’s Prevention, Medical & Rehabilitation Division, Adibah Mohamed Amin, said that the highest number of cases recorded involved temporary disability. Adding that the payment for various benefits provided under the organisation involved 15,778 cases.

“A total of RM11.5 million has been allocated to fund temporary disability benefits which comprise 12,309 cases, while RM9.57 million is for permanent disability benefits involving 596 cases.

“For the invalidity pension, SOCSO Perak has allocated RM1.35 million for 485 cases while the retirement pension of RM1.01 million has been allocated for 553 cases.

Adibah said SOCSO has also funded RM208,564 for dependents’ benefit pensions involving 74 cases and mortuary benefits of RM2 million for 1,126 cases.

He said this at a press conference after presenting rehabilitation equipment for the SOCSO Prihatin 2022 Squad Programme to Hasliza Abdul Karim at Persiaran Klebang Selatan, here on Thursday.

Executive Councillor for Education, Higher Education and Human Resource, Ahmad Saidi Mohamad Daud was there to present the aid and visit the recipients.

Meanwhile, an invalidity pension recipient, Hasliza Abdul Karim, 54, from Persiaran Klebang Selatan, Taman Bertuah, said the assistance eased the burden on her family to an extent.

Hasliza suffers from high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease, besides that she also lost her left leg at the calf level.

“I have been receiving a disability pension of RM904.85 a month since last May.

“I quit my job as an operator in a factory in Ipoh because I was no longer able to work as my health did not allow it.

During SOCSO Perak’s visit today, Hasliza also received a wheelchair to assist in her daily movements.

Perak Socso also presented aid to another recipient, Nora’ini Abu Yamin from Taman Chandan Desa who was in a wheelchair and is eligible to receive a minimum invalidity pension of RM475 per month for life.
