Four victims Died in a Crash Involving Seven Vehicles
A couple and their two daughters died in a road accident involving seven vehicles at Kilometer 277.1 of the North-South Highway (PLUS) southbound near Ipoh on Wednesday evening
The victims were Rahim Ramli, 60, who was a retired police officer, his wife Siti Petimah Omar, 59, and their two daughters, Nor Nadirah, 28, and Nor Hamizah, 27. They were riding in a Proton Persona and were on their way from Sungai Petani, Kedah to Kuala Lumpur.
According to sources, the family were traveling to Kuala Lumpur as one of their children has just gotten a job there.
The accident happened at around 3pm yesterday, whereby a trailer had crashed into six cars, causing the four victims to become trapped.
The victims were extracted from their car by firefighters before a medical examination confirmed that they had died due to severe injuries.
All the bodies were returned home after being autopsied by the Forensic Department at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital Ipoh at 11.30 pm.
At 1.30am, four hearses arrived at the Tuan Haji Abdul Latiff Jamek Mosque, Permatang Pasir, Penang; which was Siti Petimah’s hometown.
More than 200 people consisting of family members and acquaintances waited for the bodies in a solemn and sombre atmosphere.
The victims’ two children, Nor Fatini and her brother, Muhammad Hazman as well as other next of kin were given the opportunity to see them before they were taken to the cemetery.
The bodies of the four deceased were buried in a grave at the Permatang Pasir Islamic Cemetery here around 3am.
