The forensic audit report on Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) in Meru should be tabled in the upcoming Perak State Assembly (DUN) sitting.
The matter was voiced by Perak Public Accounts Committee (PAC) member Chong Zhemin who claimed that the issue has already dragged on for more than two years.
The Keranji assemblyman stressed that the people have the right to know what had happened to MAPS, to the point that it had to close down in 2020.
“I have voiced the view that this forensic report from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) on MAPS needs to be tabled at the DUN sitting this time.
“This is my opinion, I have voiced this at the PAC meeting last Monday (July 4), however there are some differences of opinion especially from members of the government.
“They said since the PwC fee has not been fully paid, then it should not be tabled (at the state assembly sitting),” he said in a special press conference on Thursday.
Present was PAC member and Simpang Pulai Assemblyman, Tan Kar Hing.
He also hoped that the matter should not be used as an excuse to delay the tabling of the report.
“I’m worried that if it is not done soon, then there won’t be any time because we don’t know if this might be the last DUN sitting.
“The report was completed two years ago, during the Pakatan Harapan administration. We conducted a forensic audit at the PAC, and PwC had submitted the report. It was done in 2020 but till present, it hasn’t been tabled,” he added.
Meanwhile, other issues raised at the PAC meeting included airport land in Seri Iskandar and lanthanide mining in Hulu Perak.
“The PAC meeting has agreed to investigate this issue (sale of airport land), however the date and witnesses to be called have yet to be determined.
“This matter is closely linked to the interests of the state and the people and I think it cannot be delayed any longer.
“The same goes for the lanthanide mining in Hulu Perak, the meeting has agreed to investigate. However, no date or witnesses have been determined or called,” he added.
