Ipoh City Council To Continue Its Prihatin Agenda
The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will continue the MBI Prihatin agenda with an allocation target of RM1.5 million for 2023.
The mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud explained that the allocation is the result of contributions from those who want to join hands to help the less fortunate.
“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the cooperation and support from local and international corporate bodies, in making the social budget a success.
“For example, implementing social and welfare programmes to cover more of the target groups such as B40, single mothers, people with disabilities and the elderly,” he said.
He said this during the August Council Plenary Meeting and the presentation of the MBI Budget Year 2023 at the MBI Council Hall on Tuesday.
In the meantime, Rumaizi added that MBI also gave an injection of funds to each Council Member with an allocation of RM25,000 each.
The allocation is specifically for them to channel aid under their respective communities.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, he said his party received a total of 3,342 suggestions submitted by 209 respondents regarding the budget proposal.
“In general, most of the proposals received on average revolve around the importance of the need for cleaning services, maintaining infrastructure and improvements to the quality of city services provided.
“There are also suggestions related to direct and indirect aid to strengthen the economy of the local community,” he added.
He also expressed his gratitude to all parties who have given suggestions, which have been used as the basis for the preparation of the budget for the year 2023.
There are nine development agendas in this budget including; Cleaning and Beautification, Public Facilities and Parks, Infrastructure Facilities, Buildings and Real Estate, Council Capital Assets, Low Carbon Cities, Smart Cities, Social Development as well as Community Economic Development and Tourism.
