Over 500 people celebrated the arrival of the 1Malaysia Trishaw Ride convoy at the Ipoh City Council (MBI) Square on Sunday, February 28.

Present was the Executive Councillor for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Multimedia and Communications, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi who stated that the programme would attract more tourists to the state. “Their presence gives Tourism Perak the opportunity to promote Visit Perak Year 2017. We provided them with promotional T-shirts and caps for distribution along their stops in other states,” she added.

A total of 37 riders on 19 decorated trishaws from Malacca were on a mission to create history in the Malaysian Book of Records. The journey, which began in Malacca, took 13 days and ended on Sunday, March 6 at Arau, Perlis.

The youngest participant, 16-year-old Zulhairi Hanafi, said he was willing to apply leave from school to collaboratively create a record for the nation. “This is my contribution to the country. We’d be boosting the name of our nation with our strong will,” he shared.

Malacca Trishaw Owners Club’s Chairman, Ahmad Eliyas, said that there were many trishaw lovers in Perak and this helped to motivate the participants.
