Following flash floods, 93 victims in the Chepor Structured Village Plan (RPT) were transferred to the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) located in Sri Klebang National School.
As of 8 am this morning, the numbers have increased as compared to 55 people last night.
A spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said he received a call regarding floods due to heavy rains at 10.05pm last night.
“As many as 33 families were evacuated to PPS, located some two kilometres from the flood zone”.
“Water levels rose to almost half a metre,” said the spokesperson
The flash floods were caused by constant heavy downpour that had begun in the evening and continued throughout the night.
Minister of Youth and Sports who also serves as Member of Parliament for Tambun, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu also highlighted the matter on his Facebook page.
“Following the flash floods in Chepor Dalam, as many as 60 houses were reportedly affected by the downpour and I have urged the parties involved to give immediate assistance to the flood victims, particularly in regards to the clean-up of the aftermath.
“Our prayers go out to the victims going through this difficult time.
Also inspecting the affected areas and its residents last night was State Assemblyman for Manjoi, Datuk Asmuni Awi.
The Manjoi assemblyman’s Service Centre donated meals for 60 families affected by the floods.
