A total of 113 flood victims from 31 families in Kampung Sungai Petai, Changkat Jering, were transferred to the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS), Changkat Ibol Mosque on Friday night.
A spokesman for the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) and the Secretariat of the Larut Matang and Selama District Disaster Management Committee (LMS) said the flood was the result of continuous heavy rain that hit several areas around Perak.
“Of the 31 families involved, these include 28 adult men, 46 women, 13 boys, 12 girls and 1 baby girl.
“In addition to that, 9 elderly men and 4 elderly women were also included,” he said in a statement last night.
He also said that so far, only one PPS has been opened to accommodate flood victims affected by the flash flood.
Previously, the media reported that several areas around Bukit Gantang were hit by flash floods, namely Kampung Cheh, Kampung Senduk Hulu, Kampung Bukit Cempedak and Kampung Changkat Ibol.
