The Malaysian Ministry of Health would like to advise the public to continue adhering to its recommendations and health advice. They should avoid being complacent from the threat of Covid-19 that still exists today.
Director General of Health Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato Seri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the recommendations such as Avoid 3S, Practice 3W and Practice TRIIS must be continued even though Malaysia has been in the Endemic Transition Phase since April 1, 2022.
“People are also advised to undergo COVID-19 testing if they have symptoms. Individuals who are positive for COVID-19 Category 1 and 2A and are not at high risk (under 60 years of age and have no comorbidities), do not need to attend the COVID-19 Center (CAC).
“The assessment is self-monitoring through the MySejahtera application. SMS or calls from the Automated Voice Recording service (robocall) will be received if you have not yet or do not carry out self-monitoring which should be done every day.
“Individuals who need to attend the nearest CAC (a full list of locations, phone numbers and hours of operation can be found at https://covid-19.moh.gov.my/hotline) for further assessment will be notified via MySejahtera or contacted by CAC via SMS or phone call”, he said in a media statement today.
According to him, individuals who are positive for COVID-19 Category 2A (high risk) and above or have worsening symptoms, are required to attend the CAC or the nearest hospital for further inspection without waiting for a phone call from CAC.
Individuals who have not received the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine are advised to immediately register and get the vaccine as self-protection.
The Ministry of Health will continue to monitor the development of infections in the country, as well as abroad through information obtained from the World Health Organisation. The Ministry of Health will ensure that appropriate prevention and control measures are implemented continuously.
The Ministry of Health also announced that the total number of admissions of COVID-19 patients to health facilities (hospitals and PKRC) per 100,000 residents decreased by 22.1 percent in the 48th Epidemiological Week of 2022 (ME 48/2022) compared to ME 47/2022.
