The excitement of the Chinese New Year festive season is felt everywhere, especially in shopping centres around the city of Ipoh.
This excitement was also felt at Lorong Seni @ Lorong Panglima Ipoh, where visitors had the opportunity to witness several activities and events held.
The special programme organised by the Ipoh City Council (MBI), involved a lion dance and drum performance, a singing performance by MBI’s Gema Warisan Budaya group and the presentation of ang pau to the Michaellian Wushu Club.
The colourful and lively atmosphere started at 8.00 am. It was attended by the Senior Director of MBI Services, Zulkiflie Jaafar Sidek who represented the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md. Daud.
According to Zulkiflie Jaafar, the MBI hopes that the organisation of such a programme can benefit both the city’s citizens and tourists, thus promoting theVisit Ipoh Year 2023.
“As we know, Lorong Seni is one of the new interesting places to visit. In addition to various art products produced by local entrepreneurs, it also highlights art performances from multiple nations.
“The lion dance performance of the day is really loved by everyone, especially children. This is the time for us to learn more about the traditional culture of the Chinese community in conjunction with the New Year celebration next week,” he told Ipoh Echo.
