The passport processing office at the Bukit Berapit branch of the Immigration Department was reportedly involved in a fire early this morning.
A spokesperson from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak said, they received a call informing them of the incident at 8.42am in the morning before members who were also assisted by the Baling Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), Kedah rushed to the scene of the incident.
“When the team arrived at the scene, it was found that there was a fire involving tableware and computers in the passport processing office on the first floor of the three-story building.
“The fire brigade that arrived at the scene was instructed by the operations commander to extinguish the fire using a stream from a nozzle 300 feet high from a pump to put out the fire,” he said.
He said the fire was brought under control at 9.18am.
“However, the fire did not involve any injuries or loss of life. The whole operation ended at 10.20 am,” he said.
