IPOH: The state government held a meeting with several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) regarding the street stray dog issue yesterday.
The chairman of the state Housing and Local Government Committee, Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, said the meeting was to discuss solutions to deal with the issue of stray dogs.
“Once again I have held a meeting related to the issue of street dogs to find a solution in dealing with this important issue.
“This time with NGO representatives from Mutts and Mittens, Noah’s Ark Ipoh Animal Welfare, The Forgotten Souls of Papan Dumpsite and several councilors from the Ipoh City Council,” she said.
Sandrea said that the state government really appreciates the NGOs and individuals who are always proactive in helping to solve this issue.
“Of course, the issue of street dogs is a complicated and challenging issue to deal with.
“I believe we can improve the existing situation with the spirit of cooperation and continuous efforts,” she said.
Previously, the media reported that the state government requires comprehensive cooperation from local authorities (PBT) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in mobilizing a trap-neuter-release campaign for stray dogs.
Sandrea is reported to have said that the effort is important in ensuring that the stray dog issue which is becoming a concern in some areas of the state can be resolved thoroughly.
