IPOH: The police have given leeway by not charging people who park their vehicles outside the grounds of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB), here.
The matter was confirmed by the state’s Human Resources, Health and Indian Community Affairs Committee Chairman, A Sivanesan who admitted to having held a meeting with the Perak Police Chief on Monday.
However, he said, it is subject to several conditions, namely that the vehicle does not obstruct traffic and is not parked in a ‘double parking’ manner.
“I have asked for cooperation from the police not to issue a summons against HRPB hospital visitors and to give flexibility until May after the new parking lot is ready.
“According to the Perak Police Chief, he will take note of the matter, but if there is ‘double parking’ it is not allowed at all and traffic must not block traffic.
“So for this month and a half, I believe the police will cooperate fully,” he said.
He said this when asked by reporters following the meeting between him and the Perak Police Chief regarding the issue.
In the meantime, regarding the meeting with the Ipoh Mayor, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin regarding the same issue, Sivanesan said the appointment will be held on April 11.
“Today I only talked with the Perak Police Chief, MBI and I have an appointment with Datuk Rumaizi next Tuesday,” he said at a press conference.
He was met after breaking the fast with media practitioners, here last night.
Previously the media reported that the state government will discuss with the Perak Police and (MBI) to request consideration not to issue summons to the public who park their vehicles outside the HRPB premises.
There are complaints from the public regarding the endless parking issues, besides they are often sued for parking on the side of the road near the hospital.
