IPOH: A total of 714 units of trash cans were distributed to residents in Taman Meru 2B in conjunction with the Program Membudayakan Amalan Penggunaan Tong Sampah today.

It was distributed by the mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, involving five lorries this morning.

Also present were Councilor MBI Zone 5, Councilor Datuk Azizul Kama Abdul Aziz and City Secretary, Ahmad Munir bin Ishak.

According Rumaizi, in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Fitri which is about to arrive, the distribution of trash cans in this park is hoped to be well used by residents to ensure cleanliness and the environment is always preserved.

“Hopefully this morning’s program will be a starting point to achieve the goal of making Ipoh the Cleanest City in Malaysia as well as the Bestari Sejahtera City,” he said.

Rumaizi said that from April 2021 to March 2023 a total of 50,323 garbage bins had been distributed to the citizens of Ipoh.

“The desire of the Ipoh City Council to make Ipoh the Best Prosperous City and the Cleanest City in Malaysia by providing services, infrastructure and public facilities to the community is inadequate.

“On the contrary, the community needs to be educated to change towards a life that cultivates cleanliness and care for the environment.

“Through this program, it is hoped that we can create a shared responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and make the practice of maintaining cleanliness a culture starting from the home and then creating a society that appreciates and prioritizes cleanliness and the beauty of the environment,” he said.
