IPOH: Ramadan gives space to many parties including non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to take the initiative to do charity work to help the needy.
Pertubuhan Aman Wardah, for example, took the same step when it made a successful Cakna Ramadan program visiting 30 asnaf families including single mothers and chronic patients around the city.
Its Chairman, Azana Rita Abd. Aziz said that she along with members of the NGO visited the families of the beneficiaries in Tambun, Ulu Kinta, Chepor, Klebang, Meru and Manjoi.
According to her, each family visited received donations in the form of daily necessities as well as RM150 in Eid money.
“We took the initiative to be caring in identifying families that need help.
“Most of the recipients, for example single mothers, have children who are still in school. In fact, some recipients are school students from poor families.
“Thus, this small effort is expected to lighten the burden of the recipients, especially in helping them prepare to celebrate Aidilfitri,” she said.
Azana Rita said that the donation was the result of collection from the members of the organization in addition to some philanthropists.
Aman Wardah was established in 2014 with the aim of helping the underprivileged while its members come from various career backgrounds.
