IPOH: A total of 190 Orang Asli families in Kampung Tonggang, Tanjung Rambutan and Kampung Sungai Baduk Chemor, Ipoh were treated by lecturers from Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) from the Department of General Studies in conjunction with the Kembara Amal Ramadan (Ramadan Charity Tour) PUO Program last Saturday.
With the theme of ‘Rahmat Ramadan Rezeki Dikongsi Bersama (Sharing the Blessings of Ramadan Together)’, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program was organized by the Department of General Studies, PUO in collaboration with the Islamic Youth of Malaysia (ABIM) of Kinta District, Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) Perak, Masjid Syed Jamalullail Seri Ampang, Surau Diri Jumaat Al-Ansar, Seri Palma, Bandar Seri Botani, Student Representative Council and PUO Islamic Center.
The program started with a ceremony to donate essential goods to family representatives in Kampung Tonggang and then to families in Kampung Sungai Baduk.
The contribution was presented by PUO’s Deputy Academic Director, Dr Izwah Ismail and PUO’s Deputy Director of Academic Support, Dr Mohd Azam Mohd Dali.
Also present were PUO Islamic Center Chairman, Dr. Supa’at Zakaria; President ABIM Perak, Norfazrin Ramli and Yang Dipertua ABIM Kinta District, Ustaz Mohamad Saifuddin Abdul Latiff.
Among the donations received by the representatives of Orang Asli are food packs, cash and the gift of raya money to the kids of the Orang Asli.
Some of the activities during this adventure session are a joint cooking session for breaking the fast, tahsin prayer class for the kids of the Orang Asli, a break-the-fast feast, tahlil and doa selamat, maghrib prayer, Ramadan tazkirah and terawih prayer as the end of the program.
