IPOH: After the drowning case of a 4-year-old kid in Chemor two days ago, a 1-year and 9-month-old girl was found drowned in a swimming pool at a house in Tambun here last night.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said his side received information from the hospital about a case of the death of a girl due to drowning at about 10.30pm yesterday.
“The victim was taken to Pantai Hospital here by her father and was confirmed dead by the hospital.
“Preliminary investigations found that the scene of the incident was in a kids swimming pool located in a house lot owned by the victim’s grandfather in Tambun in Ipoh,” he said in a statement here today.
Yahaya said, the victim at the time of the incident was with both her parents in the house as they were visiting family members.
“At about 8.45pm, the victim was found by her father lying on her back and floating in the kids swimming pool and was sent by her father to the hospital for treatment,” he said.
He said that the autopsy was conducted by the Forensic Department, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) today and the cause of death of the victim was drowning.
He said, the case was investigated under Section 33 of the Children’s Act 2001 (act 611) (leaving a child to live without reasonable supervision).
“If convicted, can be fined not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisoned for a period not exceeding two years or both.
“With this, the police would like to give advice and reminder once again to the public, especially parents or guardians not to let kids under their care stay without proper supervision to avoid any unwanted tragedy,” he said.
