A Young Business
With almost every single millennial equipped with gadgets and other accessories provided by their parents, do kids these days understand the value of money? Bearing that in mind, MoneyTree Academy together with Rotary Club of Metro Ipoh and PTT Technology organised Little Taukeh, a flea market on December 4 at Lorong Bijih Timah (Opposite Concubine Lane) where kids aged between 6-12 were in charge of the sales and marketing of their own products.
“All the kids had to undergo several sessions of training with MoneyTree Academy where they were educated on how to make the sale and the art of marketing your items. This was one of our aims to enlighten the kids about money and how to spend it well,” said Ng Pui Yee, the managing director of MoneyTree Academy Malaysia.
Twenty stalls selling assorted goods such as drinks, cookies, accessories and snacks filled the entire alley with the strategic location contributing to the success of the event. “This was our first time organising such an affair and seeing how good the crowd was, we may perhaps have it again next year!” said Fenix Chong, the president of Rotary Club of Metro Ipoh.
Ng then added that through such events, kids will also understand the value of compassion by donating 20 per cent of their sales to three selected beneficiaries: Ipoh Love and Care Society, Pusat Kebajikan Rumah Orang Kurang Upaya and Yi Shan Home.
