SEMANGGOL: The body of an unidentified man was found floating in Bukit Merah Lake, this afternoon.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said, he received information from the public about the discovery of the body at 3.30 pm.
He said further examination found that the body had tattoos on the right arm, right shoulder and left and there was an inscription on the right arm.
“The Kerian District Police received a phone call informing them that a body had been found floating in the Bukit Merah Lake.
“Acting on the information, the police with the assistance of the Kerian District Fire Department went to the scene.
“It was found that a man of uncertain race had been found dead in the lake in a lying state and the body was bloated and decomposing,” he said in a statement on Friday.
In the meantime, he said as a result of the investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kerian District Police Headquarters (IPD) it found that there was no element of crime at the scene and the body would be autopsied at the Parit Buntar Hospital forensic unit.
“Currently the case is classified as sudden death,” he added.
In this regard, he said the police are asking people who have lost family members or have any information to contact the nearest police station or the IPD operations room at 05-7212222.
