IPOH: The issue of three traditional Perak Malay houses (Rumah Kutai) next to Sultan Azlan Shah Circle, Bandar Meru Raya that are abandoned and deteriorating is still a question mark.
Two weeks ago, Ipoh Echo reported that the three traditional houses were increasingly abandoned and one of them had suffered serious damage.
However, the Chief Executive of the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP), Datuk Redza Raiq Abdul Razak explained that the PKNP will study and look back at the traditional Malay house from various aspects to see if there can be uses by the local community.
“The traditional house was built on land owned by (Perak Corporation Berhad) PCB Development and after the voluntary acquisition, the PKNP will identify business opportunities for local entrepreneurs that can be created there.
“Initially this traditional house was to be turned into a restaurant, but there were requests from several parties to do some activities here.
“Regarding the damage to one of the houses, PKNP will repair it and will never demolish it,” he said during a press conference in conjunction with the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Build to Suit and Lease (BTSL) Mineral Processing Plant Development Project at the Kanthan Industrial Estate today.
Before this, one of the traditional Perak Malay houses used to operate as a Labu Sayong Signature@Meru restaurant owned by PKNP which was operated by its subsidiary, PCB Leisure Sdn. Bhd. (PCB Leisure).
