IPOH: A total of 21 industrial companies, four Higher Education Institutions (IPT) and three government agencies participated in the Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO) 2023 Industry Together Day programme which lasted for three days.
According to the Director of PUO, Dr Shamsuri Abdullah, the programme has offered at least 200 job opportunities as well as industrial training in various fields to the students, thereby helping the marketability rate of its graduates.
He said, the students also have the opportunity to get information to continue their existing studies from the IPT that participated in the programme that started on May 9 and ended yesterday (May 11).
“This is one of PUO’s programmes which are organised twice a year, it also gives students exposure to career opportunities in the industry.
“In addition, they have the opportunity to undergo an interview session for industrial training placement or job offers,” he said.
He said this after officiating the programme at the Perak Jubilee Hall, PUO on Thursday.
In the meantime, he said, among those involved in the programme were those such as Kamaya Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd., Hovid Berhad, Maha Surveying Consultants Sdn. Bhd., Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).
“The history of technical and vocational education in Malaysia is over 100 years old.
“As we all know, PUO has reached 53 years of age this year, and to this day, the technical field remains relevant and continues to grow, in line with industry personalisation 5.0 (IR5.0).
“I hope that the students take advantage of the opportunities available, seize this opportunity for industrial training placements, get a job or continue their studies at an PT,” he added.
