IPOH: Perak is targeting a collective return of RM10 billion from domestic and international visitors in conjunction with Visit Perak Year (TMP) 2024.

The target was stated by the Chairman of the State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee Loh Sze Yee, who described it as ‘roughly estimated according to the total return amounting to 7.8 billion in 2019’.

“We are doing a study, sometimes it is quite difficult to make a prediction on returns in conjunction with TMP.

“We can say our expectation is approximately RM10 billion, that’s a rough estimate and indeed this tourism sector needs the cooperation and involvement of all parties to make it successful,” he said.

He said this at a press conference in conjunction with the implementation of the Visit Perak Year 2024 at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building, on Friday.

Also present were the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa and the Senior Deputy Director of the Local Government Division, Mufidah Mahfodz.

In the meantime, Loh also listed various strategies and programmes that have been and will be arranged to boost TMP 2024.

“TMP 2024 sets the direction of tourism based on the principles of sustainability, competitiveness, and inclusiveness for sustainable development that will position Perak as a competitive main destination in the ecotourism, culture, heritage and gastronomy segments.

“It is also symbolic of the state government’s determination to achieve the target of attracting eight million domestic tourists and 350,000 international tourists,” he added.

He added that the production of the official TMP 2024 logo was based on the concept of a combination of traditional Perak weaving patterns.

In addition, he said, the TMP pre-launch ceremony is expected to take place on July 15 to 16 next to announce the tourism campaign.
