TAIPING: A woman was arrested following the case of her daughter aged 1 year and 10 months, suspected of being positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine drugs.
Taiping District Police Chief, ACP Razlam Ab Hamid said, the police received a report regarding the incident from Taiping Hospital medical officers yesterday.
“The victim is said to have been sent to her grandmother’s house by her mother because she wanted to buy necessities at a grocery store located not far from the grandmother’s house.
“When trying to sleep, the victim suddenly cried and showed uncontrollable behaviour. After that the victim’s mother took her to the hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement today.
Razlam added that, following the incident, the police had opened investigation papers under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children’s Act 2001.
“Follow-up action has been taken where an arrest has been made of the victim’s mother, an initial screening test on the suspect was found to be suspected positive for methamphetamine,” he said.
Therefore, he also called on people who have information about criminal cases to pass it on to the police to help fight crime in the district.
