Heavy rain and storm in Manjung, three houses badly damaged

MANJUNG: Three houses were damaged as a result of the storm that occurred in Lumut subdistrict here yesterday afternoon.

Manjung District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said, strong winds followed by heavy rain caused two houses in Kampung Pundut and another in Kampung Teluk Muruh to be damaged.

“Around 1pm yesterday, there was a storm that damaged three houses in Lumut subdistrict.

“The roofs of two houses were blown away by the wind while another was damaged in the kitchen due to being crushed by a fallen tree.

“In addition, the inside of their houses were also damaged and the true value of the loss has not been ascertained,” he told reporters here today.

However, he said, the incident did not result in any casualties or injuries.

He explained that following the incident, the Manjung district police had received three police reports from the victims concerned.

Mohamed Nordin added that the police will always monitor from time to time and advise the public to contact the operations room of the Manjung District Police Headquarters on 05-6886222 to get immediate help in the event of a disaster.
