MANJUNG: The Ministry of Domestic Trade (KPDN) succeeded in cracking down on the activities of deviation and the leakage of subsidized diesel oil controlled goods in an operation at a petrol station in the Seri Manjung area yesterday.
Chief State Enforcement Officer Office of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and the Cost of Living Perak, Mohamed Aznanshah Khalid said it was carried out by a team of officers and enforcement officers of the Manjung Branch of the KPDN through an Ops Tiris inspection operation at around 1.45 pm.
According to him, the success of the operation was the result of monitoring carried out for two weeks by enforcement personnel on the activities of purchasing diesel fuel at petrol stations around the Manjung district.
“At the time of the incident, enforcement officers who were monitoring, managed to detect a general cargo truck filling fuel into a drum barrel at the gas station.
“Further inspection of the lorry found four units of drums and two units of plastic barrels suspected of containing liquid diesel oil with an estimated 690 liters in the lorry,” he said in a statement here today.
Mohamed Aznanshah said that the investigation into the 44-year-old local lorry driver also found that the purchase of diesel oil was done without any permission or valid permit from the Malaysian Supply Controller.
“The lorry driver also claimed that the purchase of the diesel oil was for the use of machines or quarry machinery for digging red soil in Segari, Manjung.
“A preliminary check also found that this quarry does not have a skid tank and a permit to store diesel oil control items. The purchase of this diesel oil is estimated to be 400 to 500 liters per day,” he said.
He said the lorry driver was detained for further investigation.
“All drums, plastic barrels, 690 liters of liquid suspected to be diesel oil and a general cargo lorry vehicle were seized. The total value of the seizure is estimated at RM26,483.50,” he said.
He said the case would be investigated under the Control of Supply Act 1961 and the Control of Supply Regulations 1974.
