IPOH – 50 dental experts from across the country were celebrated during the recently held National Restorative Dental Experts Conference 2023.
Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, stated that the presence of delegates composed of restorative dental experts from the country focused on the theme ‘Never Lost in Endodontic Challenges’ for deeper discussions.
“This conference aims to further solidify knowledge about the Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) method and Regenerative Endodontic Procedures. These are the latest treatment methods that are widely used and capable of ensuring a success rate for patients.
“Through this course, they were able to enhance knowledge and procedures for application within this country, specifically in the field of dental medicine,” he said at a Dinner Reception at Meru recently.
Present at the event were Deputy Director of State Dental Health, Dr Roshima Mohd Sharif; Chief of National Restorative Dentistry Specialist Services, Professor Dr Norliza Ibrahim; Professor/Senior Consultant at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, University of Malaya, Dr Afzan Adilah Ayoub; and Clinical Specialist from the Department of Endodontics at UITM, Dr Rosenani Mohd Noordin.
CBCT is a new technique in dental X-ray examination that allows 3D images to be manipulated and processed using a computer. It can accurately and comprehensively scan nerves, bone structures, and teeth.
Meanwhile, Regenerative Endodontic Procedures involve a method that utilizes tissue engineering concepts. It serves as a biologically-based treatment modality for immature and problematic permanent teeth.
Both methods have been implemented outside the country, where they are capable of salvaging tooth damage by reusing existing dental tissue.
The two-day conference took place at the Banquet Hall of the State Secretary’s Office of Perak. It was jointly organised by the Dental Health Program of the Ministry of Health Malaysia and Restorative Dentistry Expertise.
