MANJUNG: A new program called the Sejahtera Silver Rent Scheme will be started in an effort to benefit people who are not yet able to own their own homes.
Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the state government’s program through the Perak Housing and Real Estate Board (LPHP) was beneficial with tenants being given a 20 percent discount from the current rental rate.
“This program will start with 12 units of Affordable Homes in Taman Perakku, Serdang,” he said when completing the Key Handover Ceremony of Perakku Houses, Taman Serdang, Sitiawan here yesterday afternoon.
Saarani added that LPHP also suggested that the household income eligibility limit for buyers of Low Cost Homes will be increased from RM3,860 to RM5,000 per month.
“This proposal will be brought to the State Government Meeting Council (MMK) in the near future for consideration,” he said.
Meanwhile, Saarani also presented the key to Rumah Perakku Taman Serdang at the ceremony to 447 buyers covering 100 low-cost residential units and 347 single-storey terrace affordable residential units.
It involves development in an area of 29 acres at a cost of RM55.3 million.
