In a heartening display of unity and gratitude, the local community gathered at the Kelab Orang Berida on August 20th to celebrate Senior Citizens Day. The event was a poignant recognition of the invaluable contributions of our beloved elders as well as a showcase of the vitality that’s still present among the most senior of us.
The day witnessed a warm turnout of 77 members who shared their stories, engaged in interactive games, and showcased their talents through cultural performances. It was a day of jokes, dancing, some singing and general merriment. The event also welcomed distinguished guests, including Patron Dato Thong Fah Chong, Legal Advisor Lee Seong Yan, and President Mr. Soo Ying Chow.
While the event radiated positivity, it wasn’t about grandeur. It was a heartfelt acknowledgment of the countless small moments that have shaped these seniors’ lives and their dedication to the community. The celebration highlighted the importance of leaving a lasting impact through simple acts of kindness and service.
As the event concluded, it was evident from the smiles that this celebration had touched hearts. The Senior Citizens Day event, while a single day, embodies an ongoing commitment to honour and appreciate our elders.
“Our heartfelt thanks go to all who participated, making this event truly memorable. For future endeavours that continue to recognize and celebrate our seniors, keep an eye out for updates from the organising committee. Together, we embrace the legacy of wisdom and resilience that enriches our community” added Mr Soo Ying Chow.
