Art Ipoh 2.0 Launches Tomorrow 26/8/23

As the sun sets on the tranquil city of Ipoh, a vibrant and awe-inspiring transformation is set to unfold at Tin Alley’s artistic venue. Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of imagination, innovation, and creativity as Art Ipoh 2.0 prepares to launch tomorrow, promising an extraordinary showcase that will captivate minds and hearts for the next five weeks.

Ipoh Echo had the privilege to walk with the ingenious curator behind Art Ipoh 2.0, Phillip Wong, who provided a sneak peek into what promises to be an unforgettable artistic journey. With a glint of excitement in his eyes, Phillip showed us how this year’s edition of Art Ipoh is not just an exhibition, but an experience that will redefine the way we perceive art.

A tapestry of over 1000 art pieces stand proud, each creation carefully placed by 134 artists from all over Malaysia. Put together within the walls of the 116-year-old Building Block, where heritage and creativity blend seamlessly, promising an immersive experience that transcends the ordinary.

Here are some of the “Not to be Missed” Highlights for Art Ipoh’s 2.0 Launch Event:-

•       Artists Live Painting on Century Bricks at Tin Alley: Witness the transformation of century-old bricks into living canvases, bridging the past and the present.
•       Dragon Dance Extravaganza: Immerse yourself in the mesmerising performance of a 6-dragon dance that pays homage to tradition.
•       Beca Rides through Tin Alley: Take a delightful ride through history aboard traditional Becas’, reliving the nostalgia of bygone days.
•       Steve Tan’s Historic Wet Plate Collodion Photography: Journey back in time with the largest creation of this vintage photographic process, preserving history in a unique way.
•       Eric Choong’s Back to Hometown Art Fashion Show: Experience the fusion of art and fashion, as Eric Choong showcases a runway inspired by the very essence of Ipoh.
•       Sean Chin Cheang’s Performance of Rebirth: Be moved by an evocative performance that symbolizes renewal and transformation.
•       Screening of ‘Taugeh’ – A Short Film by Tapir Films
•       Dance & Music Performances: Enjoy captivating performances that keep the energy alive till 11pm.

The celebration doesn’t end with the launch. The showcase of talents will continue for the next 5 weeks, providing ample time for everyone to explore and immerse themselves in the world of Art Ipoh 2.0.
