TAIPING – The Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) made history by receiving the ‘Best Muslim Friendly Nature Destination’ award at the World Islamic Tourism Awards (WITA) 2023 ceremony.
The WITA ceremony took place at the Sunway Resort Hotel in Selangor last Friday.
The award was presented by Datuk Noor Zaleha Baharuddin, the Chairman of WITA, and Datuk Jeffri Sulaiman, the Chairman of Asia Hajj, Umrah & Islamic Tourism Conference & Exhibition (AITEX).
Representing MPT in receiving the award were Syahrulnizam Baharom, the Director of Urban Planning and Development for the city, and Muhammad Hafizzuddin Azhar, the Head of the Corporate Public Relations, and Tourism Division.
WITA was organized to recognize those who have contributed to the success of the Islamic tourism industry.
A total of 55 awards were presented to individuals and industry players who have worked diligently to ensure that the Islamic tourism industry in this region continues to thrive.
