The wait is over, and the stage is set to resonate with the joyous melodies of the renowned Sam Tet Brass Band as they make their grand return with the “Artelites Rhapsody 2023: Golden Jubilee Concert.” After a hiatus due to the global pandemic, this iconic musical ensemble is back to fill the hearts of the Ipoh community and beyond with music that’ll be a wonderful experience for all.
Sam Tet Brass Band’s story begins in 1973 when Principal Brother John Moh, along with the guidance of Mr. Joseph Wong Ming Fah, founded this remarkable musical family. Over the decades, they’ve climbed the ladder of musical excellence, leaving their mark not just in Malaysia but around the world.
They’ve wowed audiences in cities like Shanghai, Seoul, and Bangkok, earning admiration and applause wherever they go.
Fresh from their astounding performance at the Malaysia International Wind Festival, held at Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) from 8 to 9 September, Sam Tet Brass Band returns home with their heads held high. They’ve clinched an incredible tally of 5 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, proving their musical prowess on the international stage.
This competition, organised by the Malaysia Concert and Marching Band Association (MCMBA) and officially recognized by the Ministry of Education, drew 1,600 contestants from 57 schools, not only from Malaysia but also from Japan, Thailand, and Indonesia. Sam Tet Brass Band’s crowning glory was securing the championship in the indoor showcase division—an achievement that fills them with pride.
The Golden Jubilee Celebration
Now, it’s time for the Ipoh community to join the celebration as Sam Tet Brass Band presents the “Artelites Rhapsody 2023: Golden Jubilee Concert.” This dazzling event takes place this Saturday 4:30 PM, at the Bro John Moh Hall in Sam Tet Secondary School.
