The National Heart Institute (IJN) and Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) will be organising a Heart Health Community Program in conjunction with the 68th Anniversary of the Second Infantry Brigade of Malaysia.
This open program is designed with the purpose of raising awareness among the general public and ATM personnel about the importance of heart health care, identifying signs, symptoms and risk factors of heart attacks, and providing advice on adopting healthier dietary and lifestyle practices.
IJN will be hosting various activities, including cardiovascular health screening tests such as Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, blood pressure checks, blood sugar and cholesterol level tests, echocardiogram (ECG) and Echocardiography (Basic ECHO 2D) examinations for those at risk.
Other activities include carbon monoxide level testing in the lungs for smokers, CPR demonstrations, cooking competitions, colouring contests, as well as proper handwashing demonstrations for child visitors.
