Ipoh – The 2nd Infantry Brigade (2 Bgd), stationed at Camp Remilies here, marked its 68th anniversary with a grand parade on the parade ground of the 2nd Royal Ranger Regiment (2 RRD) at Syed Putra Camp.

The parade ceremony was graced by the presence of the 2nd Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Asri Shukor, along with other senior officers.

Established by the British on October 1, 1955, as the second-oldest brigade in the Malaysian Army, 2 Bgd was created to combat the threat of communist insurgents.

Following a combat parade concept, the event showcased the tactical formations of 2 Bgd, illustrating their ability to manoeuvre effectively.

The parade included 20 officers and 345 members from four detachments led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Firdaus Desa from the Second Infantry Brigade Signals Squadron.

The formation of 2 Bgd comprises a versatile combined formation consisting of three combat units: the 23rd Royal Malay Regiment Battalion, the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment, and the 9th Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment.

The brigade’s organic elements consist of a combat support unit and two service support units.

During the parade, seven personnel were promoted, and these promotions were officially conferred by Brigadier General Asri Shukor.
