IPOH: The number of flood victims in Perak increased to 252 individuals on Monday evening, with three temporary evacuation centres (PPS) in the Hilir Perak and Kerian districts still operational.
A spokesperson for the Flood Disaster Management Committee in the District revealed that there were 252 flood victims from 72 families still accommodated at the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall, Changkat Lobak National School, and Alor Pongsu National School.
The PPS at the Teluk Intan Municipal Hall reported no flood victims but has not been officially closed.
“There has been an increase in the number of families and flood victims at the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall PPS, while the number of flood victims at the Changkat Lobak National School and Alor Pongsu National School PPS remains unchanged,” the spokesperson stated on Monday.
Furthermore, there are 98 flood victims from 29 families at the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall.
Earlier this morning, the media reported that 219 flood victims from 63 families were still housed in four PPS.
Based on information from the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to be fair in the morning, but rain and thunderstorms are anticipated to occur in most areas of Perak in the evening and tonight.
