IPOH: Three local men were arrested for conducting illegal parking attendant activities around this city on Sunday.
Ipoh District Police Chief, ACP Yahaya Hassan, stated that the three suspects, aged 43, 47, and 55, were arrested in an operation called ‘Special Operation against Illegal Parking Attendants’.
He mentioned that the arrests were carried out by the Research/Operation Unit of the Traffic Enforcement Branch, Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division, Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD).
“The operation was conducted through monitoring rounds and preventive investigations based on public complaints regarding illegal parking attendant activities in the center of Ipoh city.
“In the operation on November 5, the police successfully arrested three men for conducting illegal parking attendant activities around Jalan Laxamana, Jalan Bijih Timah and Jalan Foo Yet Kai,” he said in a statement here today.
He explained that individuals who commit offenses and are involved in illegal parking attendant activities can be charged under the following sections:
Section 50(3) of the Road Transport Act 1987, compelling any other person in relation to the custody of vehicles or directing any vehicle driver in relation to parking a vehicle in any parking place without proper authority.
And Section 119(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987, (penalty upon conviction) a fine not exceeding two thousand ringgit or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both.
“Thanks to the concerned residents of Ipoh who provided information to the police, leading to the capture of the suspects,” he said.
