IPOH: The 34-year friendship between the Twin Cities of Ipoh City Council and Fukuoka City, Japan has had many positive impacts, especially in terms of technology sharing between the two countries.
Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, the Chairman of the State Housing and Local Government Committee, highlighted waste management as a key issue in the collaboration between Perak and Fukuoka City.
“Did you know that each Malaysian produces an average of 1.17 kilograms of solid waste every day? Have you ever wondered how the government manages this waste and where it ultimately goes?
“As part of the visit by the representative of Fukuoka City Council, Nakamura Shintaro, to Ipoh, MBI arranged a visit to the waste disposal site in Papan.
“The visit was specifically aimed at receiving briefings and visiting facilities such as leachate treatment plants,” she said after visiting the waste disposal site in Papan.
According to Sandrea, they had previously conducted a working visit to Fukuoka City, including visits to waste disposal sites such as Nakata, Rinkai Clean Park, and the 3R center.
“Hopefully, through the sharing of experiences and technology between the two parties, waste management will be further improved.
“In addition to encouraging investment and cooperation from relevant government and private sectors, for the sake of a clean and sustainable environment,” she added.
