IPOH: Heavy rain, followed by a storm on Monday evening, has led to an increase in flood victims in Perak today, reaching 269 people.
There are three new evacuation centers (PPS) opened, one in Hulu Perak district and two in Kinta.
A spokesperson for the Flood Disaster Management Committee in the district stated that a new PPS in Hulu Perak at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Gerik accommodates 24 people from eight families.
Meanwhile, the PPS in Kinta at Dewan Orang Ramai Taman Meru 2C Ipoh has four victims from two families and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Sri Kinta has 19 victims from six families.
“As of 8 am today, a total of 269 victims from 80 families are placed in seven PPS across four districts.
“This is an increase from 251 victims from 72 families last night, with three new PPS opened at midnight,” he said here today.
He added that the affected areas in the latest flood in Hulu Perak include Kampung Kolam Air, Kampung Bendang Kerajaan, Kampung Tanjung Kala, Kampung Ulu Kenderong, Kampung Padang Kunyit, Kampung Padang, and Kampung Ramasamy. In Kinta, it involves Taman Meru 2C and Kampung Sri Kinta.
