Ipoh Refill, a leading advocate for sustainability, is excited to announce the Ipoh Zero Waste Bazaar, the city’s first-ever zero waste event. Scheduled for December 16 and 17, 2023, at the iconic Red Mountain Sin Yoon Loong Cafe, the 2 day event aims to introduce Ipoh residents to a zero waste lifestyle by emphasising the importance of reducing single-use packaging.
The initiative, launched as part of the Environmental Accelerator Programme 2023, reflects Ipoh Refill’s commitment to promoting sustainability and creating a positive environmental impact in Perak and beyond. The Environmental Accelerator Programme implemented by Biji-biji Initiative, supported by Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance, identifies and supports innovative projects focused on sustainability and community engagement in Perak.
The Zero Waste Bazaar will feature 20 vendors offering environmentally friendly products without single-use packaging. This unique event aligns with the vision of Perak Sejahtera 2030, aiming to achieve zero single-use plastic by 2030.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own containers to take home fresh produce, handcrafted products, homemade food, and refillable items. The event will also include environmental talks by experts, exhibition booths on environmental topics, and free workshops. Guest speaker Kennedy Michael of Alliance of River Three will conduct clean-up sessions on December 17, following his talk.
