IPOH:Perak is ready once again to host the location for the most challenging off-road motorsport, the Rainforest Challenge (RFC) Grand Finale next year.
This is in conjunction with the Celebration of Visit Perak 2024 and simultaneously putting Perak on the map of four-wheel off-road motorsports.
Chairman of the Education, Higher Education, Youth, and Sports Committee in Perak, Khairudin Abu Hanipah, stated that the off-road motorsport event holds its own prestige.
“I welcome RFC if they wish to choose Perak as the hosting location again next year.
“The organizers can plan this in advance, and we have suitable allocations that can be allocated,” he said.
He made these remarks before flagging off participants at the RFC Grand Finale 2024 at Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout here.
Also present was the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa.
Approximately 150 four-wheel drive vehicles involving 300 participants were released, marking the beginning of the RFC Grand Finale challenge.
Participants came from Russia, Mongolia, China, South Korea, the United States, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Japan, Italy, Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.
RFC holds the third position among the top 10 toughest off-road motor racing events globally, alongside the Dakar Rally, BAJA Race, Le Mans 24hr Race, and Isle of Man Race.
Meanwhile, the founder and Director of the Rainforest Challenge & Rainforest Global Series, Luis J.A. Wee, mentioned that Perak was chosen because it has areas that are attractive for participants to explore.
“Throughout this 10-day event, participants will traverse the forests of Sungai Siput to Gerik, encountering many interesting locations.
RFC also receives international media coverage, especially online, among off-road sports enthusiasts,” he said.
