Jaya Ram, the enchanting Odissi production by Sutra Foundation, is all set to power the stage at Bukit Merah Wood Factory this weekend. This vibrant venue, originally a family wood factory and now a thriving arts centre, is hosting Jaya Ram for a unique performance that transcends boundaries.
Conceived and directed by Guru Gajendra Kumar Panda (Tridhara, Odisha) and Datuk Ramli Ibrahim (Sutra Foundation), Jaya Ram is a celebration of the timeless tale of Rama and the Abduction of Sita. This production seamlessly blends the traditional Odissi repertoire with earthy folk traditions, creating a mesmerising collage of energies and emotions.
Having travelled across the globe, from the historic temples of Konark and Khajuraho to vibrant stages in Singapore, Japan, and the iconic India Gate in New Delhi, Jaya Ram finds its home tomorrow and Sunday in the transformative space of Bukit Merah Wood Factory right here in our backyard.
