IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) will review the road structure near Angsana Mall to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) here, which is reported to have uneven and undulating surfaces.
The road damage has elicited various reactions from road users who claim it could pose risks and dangers in the future.
Ipoh Mayor, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin, mentioned that the road had been repaired before, following drainage works carried out by the Mangkubumi contractor.
“The stretch of road from HRPB to Greentown Mall (GM), now Angsana Mall, falls under MBI.
“We are still waiting for the drainage works by Mangkubumi in that area, they still want to use it for drainage work, and we’re just waiting for it to be completed.
“In fact, the road in front of GM has already been patched, but due to public complaints about its condition, MBI will reevaluate that road,” he said.
He said so when asked by reporters about public complaints urging MBI to promptly repair the roads in that area.
Meanwhile, Rumaizi explained that they are currently in the process of re-paving the road near the HRPB roundabout.
“Between the mosque and the HRPB roundabout, the contractor still has drainage work to complete.
“Because if we pave now, tomorrow or two or three days later, if it is excavated again, the road will be damaged again. Once the work is finished, we will expedite the repaving of that road,” he said.
Earlier, Rumaizi attended to inaugurating the Cleanest Toilet Awards Ceremony in conjunction with World Toilet Day 2023 at the MBI level here.
