IPOH: The Covid-19 infection cases in Perak are still under control, with around 600 cases recorded and the number of deaths from the disease remains low.
However, the public is advised to take precautionary measures, including self-monitoring to avoid getting infected.
The Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and Integration Exco of Perak, A Sivanesan, stated that this includes seeking immediate treatment if tested positive.
According to him, although the Omicron variant currently present is not as active as during the pandemic, precautionary measures are still essential.
“During the Movement Control Order (MCO), we had already trained ourselves to face Covid-19, so in terms of knowledge, it’s already there; just follow the same steps.
“Maintain distance, wear a face mask when necessary, and if you have symptoms, immediately see a doctor, especially if you have a cough,” he told reporters.
Meanwhile, Sivanesan does not deny that Covid-19 infections in Perak may increase in the next three weeks due to the long school holidays and festive season.
“We are not worried about the outbreak in Perak, but the influx of people from abroad during the holidays who might have the infection.
“That’s why we remind the public to take control measures and follow the SOPs during the pandemic. Wear a face mask, use sanitizer, and practice distancing,” he said.
