IPD Manjung disposes of case items worth RM1.2 million

MANJUNG: The Manjung District Police Headquarters today disposed of case items involving 254 cases worth RM1.2 million investigated from 2021 to 2023.

The Chief of the Manjung District Police, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nordin Abdullah, said the case items disposed of had completed the prosecution process.

He explained that the case items were divided into three categories: 17 cases of Bitcoin (1,063 equipment), 4 cases of cigarettes (11,590 various types of cigarette cartons), and 233 gambling cases (284 devices like mobile phones).

“All these cases were referred to the court and the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office and have received disposal instructions.

“The total value of the disposed items is estimated to be approximately RM1,163,600 based on customs’ assessment,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Nordin added that the disposal was carried out through a scheduled disposal method, namely e-waste and solid waste under the ‘First Schedule, Environmental Quality (Scheduled Waste) Regulations 2005.

“The disposal process of these case items was conducted by licensed and registered companies under the Department of Environment and in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM),” he said.

Furthermore, he mentioned that efficient management of case items is a key aspect emphasized by the PDRM leadership.

“Hence, the Manjung IPD PDRM has collaborated with Utility companies such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and stakeholders to eradicate cases of electric theft through Bitcoin mining activities.

“The Manjung IPD PDRM is also vigilant in managing case items by identifying completed cases,” he said.

He added that disposing of case items in line with the law and SOP requires a high commitment from all parties to ensure no abuse of power and wastage occurs.
