TAPAH: A poultry farm was raided by the Perak State Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) for suspected unauthorized storage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) without a permit, here yesterday.
The Director, Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, stated that on Tuesday at 8:30 am, officers and enforcement personnel from KPDN Perak conducted a controlled goods inspection operation in the area.
He mentioned that the operation was the result of two weeks of surveillance and monitoring by KPDN enforcement officers regarding LPG distribution activities in the farm area.
“During the inspection, several LPG cylinders were found stored in a designated area near the farm.
“A 45-year-old man, who claimed to be the farm clerk, informed us that the LPG was intended for farm use in the process of heating chicks.
“The farm failed to produce any permit for the storage of controlled goods when requested.
“As a result, KPDN seized a total of 84 cylinders containing branded LPG and 97 empty branded cylinders, with an estimated total seizure value of RM20,334.40,” he said.
He clarified that the case would be investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for allegedly committing an offence by possessing or storing scheduled controlled goods (LPG) without written authorization from the authorities.
Additionally, further investigations will be conducted against the LPG-controlled goods wholesaler for the offence of selling controlled goods to individuals without the required license or permit.
“The farm owner is also advised to use commercial and industrial LPG for business purposes instead of subsidized LPG, as the latter is intended solely for household use,” he added.
