TAIPING: A total of 53 medical students participated in the ‘Zoo Guardians’ program organized by Universiti Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) at Taiping Zoo & Night Safari here recently.
Sponsored by Key Field Offshore Sdn Bhd, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) program was led by Rili Andika Alzamaniq Warijan and supervised by Lecturer of General Studies, Ahmad Shahir Mohd Sahran.
It started at 9 AM with a briefing by a zoo representative followed by group assignment.
The main agenda of the program involves cleaning activities where participants needed to clean five different locations.
Nearly 35 bags of trash, including dry leaves, tissues, plastic bottles, cans, and various other waste, were successfully collected during the program.
The activity also aimed to practice the concept of 3R – Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle among participants while cleaning the zoo area.
To raise awareness about animal and human health and cleanliness, the organizers also conducted several games related to the 3R concept.
Furthermore, interactive language games such as spelling bee, flora & fauna charades, and plants & animal trivia quiz were conducted in the afternoon to broaden knowledge about animals and enhance teamwork among participants.
The program concluded around 4 PM with an award presentation ceremony followed by a photography session.
